Samsung on Sunday launched its latest flagship, the Galaxy S9, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. We got some time to play with the new Galaxy S9 in Barcelona and here’s our first look. The new Samsung Galaxy S9 looks identical to the Galaxy S8 that launched last year. It has been launched in Midnight Black, Titanium Grey, Coral Blue and Lilac Purple colours. In terms of build, Samsung Galaxy S9 has a similar build as its predecessor- the Galaxy S8 – and sports glass front and back with an aluminium frame. True to Samsung style, the front is all-display with slim bezels, adding to the immersive viewing experience of the smartphone. The front-facing camera, an iris scanner, earpiece, sensors are located in the thin bezel at the top. There’s a dedicated fingerprint scanner at the back of the handset. The Galaxy S9 sports a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display and the smartphone yet again offer 18.5:9 aspect ratio.
The Infinity Display curves around the edges to offer an immersive viewing experience. There’s Always-on display, 3D touch for the virtual home button, and Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. It is powered by octa-core processor and comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The handset packs 3000mAh battery and supports fast charging as well as wireless charging. There’s no official word on the chipset but the smartphone is expected to run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor in the US while other markets including India is likely to get an Exynos-powered smartphone.
